I am a graduate of Harvy Mudd College and a PhD student of mathematics. I have been a university math instructor for 7 years and have over 15 years of one-on-one tutoring experience. I have helped students in all levels of math, physics, chemistry, computer science, accounting, finance, economics, and more. I enjoy breaking things down in a way students can really understand them. When people say they are bad at math or science, what I think they really mean is that they are out of practice. I love showing people that math and science can be much easier than anticipated when concepts are explained clearly. I enjoy seeing how different people learn and adjusting my teaching style to match the needs of each student.

Chemistry
I have a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from the University of Arizona. Currently, I’m involved in a few research projects that study chemical processes happening in the atmosphere. My passion besides doing research is to teach science subjects to young minds and help them to achieve their academic goals. My educational background and ten years of teaching experience let me explain complex subjects effectively. I spend my spare time watching sports and playing video games.

Math, Statistics
Two years ago I started tutoring math at Preuss School at UC San Diego. A year ahead in math, I became a teaching assistant to my Calculus teacher”s math support class. Although helping students earn better grades in their classes has been its own reward, getting them excited about math has been my most significant accomplishment overall. My goal is to demystify math, creating a variety of ways to learn the subject with confidence.

I've been a tutor since I first started taking college classes at age 15. With 25 years of experience, a college degree and some graduate school under my belt, I've worked as both a private tutor and as a teacher for all the sciences at a private school. I love helping people to understand things in all the subjects I tutor, and have found that sometimes that helps me understand those subjects better. In addition, I enjoy video games and RPGs, both tabletop and LARP, and have been known to occasionally stream some games.

I have a BS in Mathematics pursuing to become a math teacher. For over 5 years, I have tutored a variety of students from elementary to collegiate levels, including special education students. Math is not a subject to be scared of but a challenge that can be overcome. My educational philosophy is student learning outcomes and improvement are more important than only grades and scores. When I help students, I don't want them to just get the concept and be done with math when the grades come out. My goal is for every learner to learn math as a life-long subject beyond the classroom.

Math
My name is Anthony. I studied mathematics at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ and I am currently an electrical engineering student at University of San Diego. I started tutoring in 2015 working with middle school and high school students. I served in the US NAVY from 2016-2020 and I started tutoring again in Fall 2021 at the Math Learning Center at the University of San Diego. I help students individually and in groups with their academic challenges in Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. My aim is to break the illusion that mathematics is accessible only to smart individuals and that it is not relevant in today's world. The most rewarding part of tutoring is seeing students make individual breakthroughs in their learning and developing mathematical maturity that is going to strengthen critical thinking.

I believe that it's more effective for parents and students to turn away from external esteem (i.e. the actual test scores) and focus more on the self-esteem that comes from diligently attending to the learning process," Jennifer says. Jennifer earned her BS in mechanical engineering and her BA in business economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
