Chemistry, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Test Prep

I am a graduate of Harvy Mudd College and a PhD student of mathematics. I have been a university math instructor for 7 years and have over 15 years of one-on-one tutoring experience. I have helped students in all levels of math, physics, chemistry, computer science, accounting, finance, economics, and more. I enjoy breaking things down in a way students can really understand them. When people say they are bad at math or science, what I think they really mean is that they are out of practice. I love showing people that math and science can be much easier than anticipated when concepts are explained clearly. I enjoy seeing how different people learn and adjusting my teaching style to math the needs of each student.

Math

I am a graduate from Loyola University New Orleans with a Bachelors in Mathematics. I have tutored students at the high school and college level for four years. I love the ways that we can use math and hope that my students can see how it works with our everyday lives. I have found that many of my hobbies have had in some way or another incorporate math. Whether it is playing a hard game of tennis or a relaxing game of chess, I have found math as a core part of my growing potential. What I love the most about tutoring is to have the chance to interact with new people, experience new ideas, and share my knowledge with others so that they can strengthen themselves.

Math, Physics

I was born and raised near Santa Cruz, CA and I graduated from UCSD in 2017 with a BS in Physics. I work full time as a Research & Development Engineer for an electromagnetics company working on sensors and metamaterials for RF and IR applications. I have been a freelance tutor since senior year of high school and worked for a tutoring company for 8 months during college. My favorite part of tutoring is when a student who has been working hard on a particular subject finally breaks through and understands; that light bulb going off and look of satisfaction afterward makes the long hard hours of work worth it. I love teaching math and science because those subjects in particular rely on pure logic or pure evidence, and unites us as people as the conclusions can be reproduced or used as stepping stones for newer and better conclusions.

Biology, Chemistry

I am a graduate student at UCSD studying Biology, more specifically circadian rhythms. I graduated from UCSD with a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry/Cell Biology and really enjoy the sciences. I have TA'd as an undergraduate and a graduate student in a few Biology courses, such as Structural Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Circadian Biology, as well as one-on-one sessions with individual students covering specific topics in the class. In high school, I helped ESL students with homework during tutoring periods and I also participated in a Big Brothers Big Sisters Program where I mentored, tutored, and advised a 3rd grade student during my senior year. I really enjoy tutoring as it allows me to help students in ways that I wish I had been helped in my classes. Seeing improvement and progress is one of the biggest motivators for me as a tutor and as a Teaching Assistant.

Computer Science

My first exposure to computer science was in high school, but I really began learning it in depth once I started college at UC San Diego. I am now in my final year and will be graduating soon with a B.S in Computer Science. I have always enjoyed tutoring, so when I started my bachelors at UC San Diego I quickly got involved in the tutoring program on campus and have been tutoring various computer science courses virtually my entire undergraduate career. I have helped students with introductory material to computer science, learning new programming languages, data structures, and various software tools. I am excited to get to help an even wider range of people through High Performance tutoring and continue doing what I love!

Math, Statistics

I graduated from UC San Diego with a B.A. in Cognitive Science and am currently working towards my M.A. in Psychology. I’ve tutored students in both undergraduate- and graduate-level courses and I absolutely love working through the tough questions together. When I was a high-school student, I was lucky enough to find wonderful tutors who gave me the tools and confidence to succeed in more difficult subjects. I know the remarkable value and significance of an excellent tutor, and my goal is to provide that same support for my students today.

Biology

I am a 2018 graduate at University of California, San Diego with a B.S. in Human Biology and minor in Psychology. I love helping people realize their potential to learn and teaching them the knowledge that will lead them toward success. I have experiences as an instructional assistant and tutor for undergraduate biology courses and want to continue supporting students to thrive in their own learning styles and gain confidence in their abilities. I believe that learning is not limited to a classroom setting and that seeking help to improve your understanding is the best decision you can make for yourself. I want to motivate students to pursue their goals and view challenges as opportunities to become stronger and sharpen the mind.
